Fire Department Open Houses
The McLean and Great Falls Volunteer Fire Departments are holding their annual Open Houses tomorrow, Saturday, October 9, from 10AM-4 PM. The Open Houses are part of the National Fire Prevention Week, which was held this week. At the Open Houses, you can meet the firefighters, see demonstrations of firefighting gear, try your hand at putting our a fire with a fire hose, explore the ambulance, medic, utility, antique engine, engine, rescue squad and tower, and many other activities. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, nearly 3,000 people die in home fires each year. About two-thirds of home fire deaths result from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working alarms.
