This Week: National Days of Remembrance

McLean, VA - Sunday marked the beginning of the National Days of Remembrance which will continue throughout this week. Congress established the Days of Remembrance as our nation's annual commemoration of the Holocaust and created the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a permanent living memorial to the victims.

The theme of this year's commemoration is Never Again: Heeding the Warning Signs. Seventy-five years ago, momentous changes were occurring in Central Europe. Few understood the historic significance of the times, and fewer still saw these events as precursors to what would become one of humanity's darkest hours.

You can watch the live webcast of the 2013 National Days of Remembrance ceremony held in the US Capitol Rotunda on Thursday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. The webcast will also be available for viewing later. There will also be related activities all week at the Museum.

To learn more about the National Days of Remembrance you can visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum's website. This year, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Museum's opening, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum invites everyone to join them in remembering the victims of the Holocaust by organizing or participating in a Days of Remembrance observance in the community.
