Emergency Shelters Opened and Fairfax Schools Closed Monday

All Fairfax County public schools and offices will be closed Monday, February 8.  The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:

•       extracurricular activities
•       interscholastic contests
•       team practices
•       field trips
•       middle school after-school programs
•       professional learning and training courses
•       all adult and community education classes
•       recreation programs
•       community use activities


Custodians and building engineers are not expected to report for work.
 
Two Emergency Warming Centers/Shelters to Open in Fairfax County on Feb. 7

News Highlights:

·         Open at noon to assist county residents without power.

·         Map available online .

·         Transportation provided from Fairfax County Government Center and South County Government Center.

Fairfax County will open two emergency warming centers/shelters today, Feb. 7, at 12 p.m. (noon) to assist county residents who are without power as a result of the winter storm. The warming centers/shelters are located at:

Robert E. Lee Recreation Center   
6601 N. Telegraph Road 
Alexandria, VA 22310  
 
Oak Marr Recreation Center
3200 Jermantown Road 
Oakton, VA 22124
