Governor McDonnell Congratulates 8 Virginia Colleges and Universities Named âBest Valueâ in Kiplinger Report
University of Virginia, College of William & Mary, James Madison University, Virginia Tech, University of Mary Washington and George Mason University All Named âKiplinger's Best Values in Public Collegesâ; Washington & Lee University and University of Richmond named âBest Values in Private Collegesâ
Â
RICHMOND- Governor Bob McDonnell released the following statement in response to a recent report from Kiplinger naming eight Virginia colleges and universities to their list of âBest Valuesâ. Â Â
Â
âKiplinger has recognized what we here in Virginia have known for some time: that our colleges and universities provide an exceptional education that prepares our young people to be successful adults. Â Over the last year, I created the Higher Education Commission on Reform, Innovation, and Investment to build upon the strengths of our exceptional higher education institutions and have advocated a goal to graduate an additional 100,000 degrees in the next 15 years. Recently, I announced $50 million in total net new higher education investment as a down payment on that goal. Â These eight colleges and universities, along with all of Virginiaâs public, private and community colleges, will play a vital role in reaching these goals to ensure that our students are given the tools and resources they need to compete successfully in the global economy in which we live. Â Congratulations to these schools for their hard work and dedication to providing a âvaluableâ education.â Â
