Delegate Comstock Appointed Chairman of General Laws Housing Subcommittee

Richmond, VA – Delegate Barbara Comstock (McLean-34) issued the following statement regarding her appointment as Chairman of the General Laws Housing Subcommittee:

I am honored to be appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing.  This committee deals with issues related to commercial and residential real estate, apartments, eminent domain and fire and emergency medical services.  We know that any economic recovery depends upon a thriving real estate market.  I look forward to working on the issues on this committee that are vital to a vibrant and strong community and economy.

Delegate Oder (R-Newport News), former Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing stated:  “The General Laws Housing Subcommittee is responsible for all of the housing related issues in the Commonwealth such as mortgage loans, community associations, real estate laws, and Fair Housing regulations.  These issues affect all Virginians and come before this important committee.  I know Delegate Comstock is ready to take over the reigns of this committee and apply her work ethic to the demands required to administrate this committee fairly and effectively."

Delegate Jones, Chairman of the General Laws Committee added:  “Delegate Comstock has proven herself to be a quick study with a strong work ethic. I am confident she will do an outstanding job as Chairman of the General Laws Housing Subcommittee.”

Speaker Bill Howell said: “Like so many, I'm delighted that Delegate Comstock has been named as the new Chairman of the Housing Subcommittee.  Barbara is a thoughtful, talented and hard-working legislator who has brought sound judgment and a fresh perspective to her noteworthy service in the General Assembly.  These characteristics will make her an effective leader of the important work and oversight provided by the Housing Subcommittee."
